Kraken is contemplating an initial public offering (IPO) as early as the first quarter of 2026, although the company may still alter its plans. Bloomberg initially reported this development, citing sources familiar with the situation.

“We’ve recently shared our 2024 financial highlights to increase transparency about our business. This builds on our initial efforts as the first to publish proof of reserves, and transparency will remain a priority for us moving forward,” a Kraken spokesperson said. “We’ll consider entering public markets when it aligns with the interests of our clients, partners, and shareholders.”

Kraken, which generated over $1.5 billion in revenue in 2024, has been contemplating a public listing since at least 2021. The company also explored raising over $100 million in a pre-IPO funding round during mid-2024.

Kraken is now among several crypto firms, including Gemini and eToro, considering public listings under a more crypto-friendly Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
