Hong Kong Could Include Bitcoin in Financial Reserves
Johnny Ng, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, has announced his intention to initiate discussions in Hong Kong regarding the potential addition of Bitcoin to the city’s financial reserves.
This comes after former US President Donald Trump’s speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference, where he stated that he would establish a “strategic Bitcoin reserve” if re-elected in the upcoming election.
According to Ng, it is worth considering incorporating Bitcoin into the official financial reserves of Hong Kong, citing its increasing global acceptance and public perception of it as “digital gold” due to its technology.
He also emphasized the importance of ensuring compliance in this potential decision.
