Sam Altman’s Worldcoin project has recently introduced new features to enhance the security of users’ personal data. The most notable addition is the ability for users to revoke their World ID verification.

These new features include the option to delete retinal scans and a personal age verification process that ensures the user is over 18 years old.

To prevent fraudulent activity, the removal of biometric data requires a six-month cooling-off period. After this time, the user’s World ID will become invalid and cannot be reinstated.

According to the project’s press release, these updates were based on evaluations conducted by data protection authorities, such as the Bavarian State Data Protection Authority, which oversees the Worldcoin project in the EU.

The changes were also developed in collaboration with privacy and security experts. The age verification process will take place at locations where retinal scanning is available.
