Goldman Sachs to Buy Claims on Liquidated Crypto Companies
The head of digital assets at Goldman Sachs, Matthew McDermott, has expressed interest in potentially investing in claims against failing cryptocurrency companies as well as exploring other options.
This increased activity in the claims market follows the collapse of several major cryptocurrency companies in recent years, including FTX, Genesis, Celsius, BlockFi, and Voyager.
McDermott noted that while the price actions of the cryptocurrency market have traditionally been driven by retail investors, more institutions are now involved and there are opportunities in tokenization.
Goldman Sachs is currently working on developing its own digital assets platform to take advantage of these opportunities.
Moreover, it has been reported that BlackRock, in collaboration with Securitize, will soon launch a tokenized private equity fund on Ethereum called BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUILD).
