Mt.Gox Confirms Customer Addresses for Compensation
Some Reddit users have reported receiving emails from Mt.Gox, the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange, confirming crypto wallet addresses for receiving compensation.
These emails were aimed at Kraken and Bitstamp customers, who were required to provide their wallet addresses to receive payments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
The letter stated that centralized exchanges will act as an intermediary to receive payments from Mt.Gox. If an account is disabled or frozen, no compensation will be given. However, some Reddit users have complained that they have not yet received confirmation.
According to the Mt.Gox plan, payments will be made until 2024. The platform will distribute assets of 142,000 BTC, 143,000 BCH, and 69 billion Japanese yen. In the r/mtgoxinsolvency thread on Reddit, users reported in late 2023 that Mt.Gox had started sending yen compensation through PayPal.
In November, platform trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi assured clients that payments would begin before the end of the year. He stated that compensation to creditors would be paid out in several installments, including a basic, early lump sum, and intermediate repayment.
