Coinbase Gets Licensed in France
According to a report by CNBC, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has received registration with France’s markets regulator, making it an officially recognized virtual asset service provider.
This registration will allow the company to offer services such as custody of digital assets, buying and selling digital assets with legal tender, and trading digital assets against other digital assets.
The company’s international arm has also announced plans to expand its services to non-US institutions for spot trading and to add more digital assets to its platform.
In the US, Coinbase is currently facing a legal dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission over allegations of operating as an unregistered exchange.
CEO Brian Armstrong has called for clear regulations to prevent stifling innovation in the country and potentially pushing businesses overseas.
