According to a report by Blockworks, Ethereum client developers have confirmed that the anticipated Dencun update will not be activated on the main network until the end of 2023.

This decision was made during the All Core Developers call, where a Prysm team member named Potuz highlighted ongoing issues with consensus in developer testnets.

The team has already implemented ten solutions to test the upgrade in the past few months.

Potuz stated that the main network will not undergo a fork in 2023 under any circumstances.

This hard fork will involve updates to both consensus (Deneb) and execution (Cancun) levels.

However, unlike the consensus team, the execution client developers said they are ready to test the update on the public testnet called Goerli.

However, Potuz expressed his discomfort with the idea, stating that the team’s branch is still undergoing significant changes.

As a result, there are plans to launch an eleventh devnet, which will be smaller than its previous versions.
