Following the recent Bedrock update, Optimism’s L2 transaction fees saw a sharp decrease, going from $0.57 to $0.16, according to the Dune dashboard.

This saving has allowed users to save near $150,000 in gas bills. Michael Silberling, network data analyst at OP Labs, told The Block that this efficient drop is mainly caused by the decrease in gas prices in the main Ethereum network (currently at 30 Gwei), while Optimism remains one of the most affordable Layer 2 networks, surpassing Loopring and Polygon, according to ratings from L2Fees.

This importance was also reflected in the growth of total blocked funds (reaching $865.5 million) and a high demand, exemplified by the Worldcoin startup team’s recent decision to shift their applications from Polygon to Optimism—an EIP-4844 project led by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Optimism developers.
