Florida Governor Wants to Ban CBDCs
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken a firm stance against the idea of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), vowing to ban it in his jurisdiction.
He believes the federal government “don’t like digital assets because they can’t control them.”
He has also signed a bill prohibiting the use of Florida funds for investing in environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
The governor has emphasized his dedication to protecting financial independence in Florida and has previously supported legislation to introduce digital asset financial literacy programs in schools.
Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., nephew of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, has also publicly criticized CBDCs, calling it “the ultimate mechanism for social monitoring and control.”
