Matchday, a football web3 startup, has raised $21 million in seed funding from venture capital companies such as Play Time, owned by Lionel Messi, Courtside Ventures, Greylock, HackVC, Capricorn Investment Group and Horizons Ventures.

The company is developing sports computer games, with the aim of targeting “ordinary” users. It has an official license from the International Football Federation and the Association of Professional Players FIFPRO.

Chief Game Officer Sebastien de Halleux, who previously worked for Electronic Arts, where he was involved in the FIFA and Madden NFL series, said that their products will be available to all players and are based on genuine ownership of digital collectibles.
