Hackers Hack Crypto Exchange PayBito
The group behind the LockBit ransomware has gained access to the confidential information of the cryptocurrency exchange PayBito.
As it has been reported, the hackers were able to steal the data of more than 100,000 site users.
The attackers were able to steal personal data of users from the US and other countries of the world, as well as password hashes, Security Affairs has reported. In addition, personal data and email addresses of site administrators was also accessed by the hackers.
Now the group is demanding the payment of a ransom in crypto from PayBito. If the exchange does not pay it, the data of the users and administrators of the platform will be be made publicly available. The attackers have said the exchange it has until February 21 to make a decision. The ransom amount is not indicated on the group’s website, most likely, the hackers will announce the amount in Bitcoins directly when communicating with PayBito representatives.
The LockBit ransomware can detect the language settings on an infected computer and does not encrypt files for users in Eastern Europe.
