Elon Musk Announces Tesla Now Accepts Dogecoin for Company Merchandise
Tesla has started to sell certain goods for Dogecoin (DOGE), the company CEO Elon Musk has announced via Twitter. The price of the meme crypto has risen 15% following the announcement.
Some products on the website of the electric car maker can only be purchased with Doge. At this stage, buyers are not given the opportunity to choose any other payment method.
A page has appeared on Tesla’s support sub-site stating the company only accepts Dogecoin for payment. The manufacturer does not support other digital assets and emphasizes the senders of incorrect transfers will lose their money.
A few days ago, Twitter users drew attention to the fact Tesla was testing payments in DOGE. They uncovered a hidden code pointing to the company’s plans to integrate the asset as a means of payment for some of its products.
In December 2021, Elon Musk announced Tesla would release merchandise that could be bought for DOGE. Now this has become a reality.
