ThorChain, a popular decentralized finance (DeFi) project, has just fallen victim to a hacker attack that has resulted in the loss of about 4,000 Ethers (valued at $7.6M).

According to the Twitter post shared by the company, the total amount of ETH amounts to 4,000 Ethers, not 13,000 as it was initially reported.

While no extra details on the attack have been shared, the representatives of the project claim they have enough funds to cover the losses.

The project has offered the hackers a compensation for finding the vulnerability which made the attack possible. In exchange, they have requested them to return the stolen funds:

“While the treasury has the funds to cover the stolen amount, we request the attacker get in contact with the team to discuss return of funds and a bounty commensurate with the discovery.”

The operation of the ThorChain network has been suspended since the attack.
