SEC and Binance Request Additional Pause from Court
The SEC and Binance have jointly filed a motion to extend their lawsuit pause for another 60 days, following a previous pause to engage in “productive discussions.”
Both parties are seeking more time to finalize an agreement and assess all policy implications. The current agreement closely resembles the recent SEC settlement with Ripple.
The SEC has recently been dropping major enforcement actions, including its lawsuit against Ripple. Despite these developments, some cases are still pending.
The SEC is concluding lawsuits against major exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken, and now it’s set to possibly drop the case against Binance:
“Pursuant to the Court’s February 13, 2025 Minute Order, Plaintiff Securities and Exchange Commission and Defendants Binance Holdings Limited… and Changpeng Zhao submit this joint status report and jointly move to continue to stay this case for a period of 60 additional days,” today’s motion stated.
