Metaplanet Buys Another $43.9M Worth of BTC

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has invested an additional $43.9 million to acquire 497 BTC.

The company revealed on Wednesday that it bought these 497 BTC at an average price of $88,448 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 2,888 BTC.

Metaplanet, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, noted that it acquired the entire 2,888 BTC at an average price of $83,172 per Bitcoin, amounting to approximately $240.2 million. With current valuations, these Bitcoin holdings are worth $251 million, reflecting a paper profit for the company.

Metaplanet’s recent Bitcoin purchase comes just two days after acquiring 156 BTC on Monday for $13.4 million.

The firm has been actively increasing its Bitcoin reserves since announcing its acquisition strategy in April 2024 and formally establishing Bitcoin treasury operations as a core business line in December.
