Tech Giant Google Will Require UK Crypto Ads to Register with National Regulator
Google has implemented a new policy that requires digital asset exchanges and wallets to be registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom before being authorized to advertise on its platform.
This policy, which will take effect on January 15, 2025, was announced by the search engine company. Advertisers who offer crypto exchange services or software wallets in the UK must adhere to specific criteria in order to promote their products, with the most important being FCA registration and compliance with the country’s financial regulations.
Additionally, Google will allow ads for hardware wallets that store private keys for cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and other digital assets. However, providers of hardware wallets are not permitted to offer services such as buying, selling, or trading digital assets.
