CME Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Reaches an All-time High
Since Oct. 18, the Open Interest (OI) for Bitcoin futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has reached a new record high of over $12.26 billion.
This figure has increased by over 36% in the past two weeks and is more than 3.5% higher than its previous peak in April.
The recent surge in OI marks a significant increase compared to levels seen during the summer months and is the highest recorded figure since April 1, when CME OI was at $11.84 billion.
This trend suggests that institutional players are becoming more active in taking positions in Bitcoin futures, possibly in anticipation of continued volatility or price growth in the cryptocurrency.
OI represents the total number of open and unsettled futures contracts, and a new all-time high indicates a rise in trading activity and ownership of Bitcoin futures by more participants.
