SEC Enforcement Director Gurbir S. Grewal Leaves Agency

Gurbir S. Grewal, the Enforcement Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will be leaving the agency after 21 years of service.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Sanjay Wadhwa, the deputy director, will take on the role of temporary acting director, while Chief Counsel Sam Waldon will assume the role of acting deputy director.

In a statement, SEC Chair Gary Gensler praised Grewal’s commitment to protecting investors and ensuring compliance with securities laws.

Under Gensler’s leadership, Grewal has led the division with impartiality and adherence to the facts and the law. Gensler also expressed his appreciation for working with Grewal and wished him well.

Grewal, who has served as enforcement director for three years under Gensler, will officially step down on October 11.
