Number of Bitcoin Whales Hits Highest Level in 17 Months
The number of Bitcoin wallets with a balance of 100 BTC or more has reached its highest point in 17 months, following a spike in holding over the past month.
This data, shared by Santiment, a blockchain analytics platform, on August 31 indicates that 283 wallets have surpassed the 100 Bitcoin threshold in August.
According to Santiment, the decrease in crypto prices has resulted in an increase in the number of Bitcoin whales.
In just 1 month, there has been a net gain of +283 wallets holding at least 100 BTC on the network, bringing the total number of these wallets to 16,120, which is the highest in 17 months.
In the same time period, Santiment also noted an increase in the number of wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC, known as “sharks.”
