Binance’s App Returns to India
After a seven-month ban due to noncompliance with local regulations, cryptocurrency exchange Binance has now returned to India’s Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
This comes after the company’s website and apps were made available on August 15, allowing Indian investors to access their services once again.
Binance has confirmed that it has registered as a reporting entity with India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND), a legal requirement for all crypto exchanges operating in the country to prevent money laundering.
The FIU-IND, a government agency responsible for gathering information on financial offenses, had previously blocked the website URLs and mobile applications of Binance and eight other exchanges in January for failing to register with law enforcement.
In April, an unofficial report stated that Binance planned to pay a $2.25 million fine imposed by the FIU and return to the Indian market.
While Binance has registered with the government agency, it has not confirmed if it paid the previously issued penalty for noncompliance.
