Telegram Unveils a Browser With Support for Decentralized Websites
Telegram, a social messaging platform that is friendly towards cryptocurrencies, has released a new in-app browser that supports decentralized websites.
These websites, called “TON Sites,” are now accessible on both mobile and desktop devices, according to a July 31 post by Telegram’s team.
The introduction of this in-app browser means that Web3, a decentralized version of the internet, is now easily accessible to Telegram’s huge user base of nearly one billion monthly users.
In a post on July 31, Telegram’s CEO Pavel Durov noted that the new browser allows users to seamlessly switch between browsing websites and messaging, bringing together communication and news consumption.
Through TON Sites, Telegram users have the ability to launch a web server and make their website available on The Open Network.
