US Moves $2B in Bitcoin Seized from Silk Road
The United States Government has recently moved 29,800 Bitcoin from a wallet that stored seized funds from the dark web marketplace Silk Road in 2012.
This occurred just two days after former President Donald Trump declared at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville that the US government would never sell any of its Bitcoin.
Trump also pledged to implement pro-crypto policies and make the US the “crypto capital of the world,” including removing current SEC Chair Gary Gensler from his position.
Some commentators have criticized the timing of the government’s transfer as “tone deaf.” The Bitcoin has since been moved to another unknown wallet.
