Markus Thielen, founder of 10X Research, predicts that Gary Gensler, the Chair of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, will step down within the first two months of 2025 after President Joe Biden’s term at the White House ends.

In his market report on July 21, Thielen observed that SEC Chairs typically resign when a new administration takes office, and he believes that a Trump win would not bode well for Gensler’s position.

Thielen also noted that Biden’s sudden withdrawal from the presidential race suggests that Trump will most likely be re-elected in November, although other experts disagree.

Despite Gensler’s term not ending until 2026, Thielen predicts that he will resign in January or February 2025. In February, Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, criticized Gensler and his approach to crypto regulation, calling him the “worst person” for the job.
