Philippines Adds USDT As Payment Method for Social Security Payments
Tether, the largest issuer of stablecoins in the world, has announced a new option for citizens of the Philippines to pay their Social Security System (SSS) contributions using USDT.
This government-run social insurance program serves employees in the official, informal, and private sectors, and aims to provide support during difficult times.
It currently manages two programs: social security and employee compensation.
The partnership between Tether and Web3 shopping and infrastructure firm Uquid allows for payments to be made in USDT on The Open Network blockchain, showcasing the potential for stablecoins and crypto in simplifying and improving daily transactions.
