Ethereum to Deploy Pectra Upgrade in Q1 2025

The Ethereum core development team has set a goal to release the Pectra upgrade in the first quarter of 2025 during an execution layer meeting.

Pectra is the highly anticipated follow-up to the Dencun upgrade, which was successfully implemented in March 2023.

Featuring the Ethereum Virtual Machine Object Format (EOF), Pectra will include approximately 11 improvement proposals aimed at enhancing the EVM code on both the Layer 1 and Layer 2 levels.

In addition, Pectra will also incorporate EIP-7251, known as the “increase max effective balance,” which will allow individual validators to stake more than 32 ETH, with a maximum limit of 2,048 ETH.

This change will enable validators to manage fewer, but higher-stake validators, potentially simplifying the process for them.
