The announcement was made by Oscar Piastri of McLaren Racing, a primary sponsor for OKX, during a media event in Sydney on May 14.

OKX president Hong Fang commented on the strategic move in an interview, stating: “I think Australia is a very underrated market.”

She continued, expressing optimism about the market dynamics and customer base:

“There is a good dynamic and customer mix here; the investors are well-informed and sophisticated, with a keen interest in technology.”

Fang emphasized the company’s commitment to compliance and the local market, saying, “We can bring our strong product suite to the local markets in a very compliant way.”

OKX also highlighted that Australian users would have access to 170 crypto trading pairs, in addition to options trading alongside spot trading. Jamie Kennedy, the general manager of OKX Australia, underscored the commitment to meeting local user needs.
