Montenegro’s Court Rejects Do Kwon’s Appeal to Avoid Extradition to South Korea

An appeals court in Montenegro has denied Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, an appeal that would have prevented his extradition to South Korea.

The court upheld the high court’s decision to allow Kwon’s extradition, as he holds citizenship in South Korea and could potentially face multiple criminal charges if extradited.

Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023 for using fake travel documents. Since then, the United States and South Korea have both filed requests for his extradition, with South Korea’s request being deemed the priority.

Even if Kwon is unable to appear in person, the US may still pursue its criminal case against him, as he faces eight felony counts.
