US Congress Urges Government to Deny Hamas Access to Crypto
US Congress members have urged the US government to prevent the Hamas group from accessing its cryptocurrency wallets.
According to the Washington Post, over 100 American politicians are convinced that the current Biden administration has the authority to identify and block addresses linked to extremist Islamist organizations.
In early October, Israeli law enforcement agencies announced that they had blocked several crypto-wallets tied to Hamas organizations.
A leading blockchain company, Elliptic, discovered that these groups had accumulated over $130 million in digital currencies, which could potentially be used to support terrorist activities.
Congress is pushing for prompt action from the US government to locate these addresses and freeze any funds held within them.
