A Bitcoin Wallet Moves 1,005 Bitcoins
On August 14, a blockchain researcher named Kirill Kretov drew attention to a transaction involving 1005 BTC mined in 2010, which had been credited to its original wallet 13 years ago.
When these coins were mined, they were worth $328; today, they are valued at over $28.5 million.
Speculation arose that this address could be linked to the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto; however, Kretov disagreed and suggested that it was more likely a long-term holder or an organization associated with earlier movements of the first mined coins between 2020 and 2021.
Kretov postulated that the owner could sell these bitcoins through an OTC transaction, as they are more likely to be priced higher than market rates and have an added value due to their age and history.
Meanwhile, this same wallet had a balance of Bitcoin Cash that remained untouched. Previously, on July 22, this same wallet moved all 1037 BTC, then valued at approximately $31 million.
