At the end of May, Coinbase’s CEO Brian Armstrong penned an article in which he denounced the US government’s sluggishness in legalizing the cryptocurrency market.

Last week, Armstrong revealed to The Wall Street Journal that US authorities would eventually create a regulatory framework for the blockchain industry, but this process would take time.

This announcement came as Coinbase has recently been involved in a lawsuit initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who charged the exchange with processing trades of digital assets that the SEC regards as securities.

Despite the allegations, Armstrong maintains that the assets transactions made on the exchange are commodities and do not require registration.
