Institutional Shareholder Services Recommends Barclays Investors Re-elect All Board Members
ISS has recommended that Barclays investors re-elect all board members at its annual meeting in May, despite questions surrounding the board’s decision to support former CEO Jes Staley between 2019-2021.
The proxy advisor acknowledged that the Board could only act based on the information available to them at the time, and suggested that any judgement of their decision should be deferred until further information from ongoing investigations is revealed.
Last month, Barclays reported that since Staley’s resignation in November 2021, no material new evidence had been received from authorities to challenge the findings of a regulatory investigation into Staley’s characterisation of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
