ConsenSys Experiences Incident with Third-party Service Provider
A recent blog post from ConsenSys has reported a cybersecurity incident involving a third-party service provider that provides customer support services.
It is believed that unauthorized entities gained access to the vendor’s systems, affecting users who provided personal data to the support service between August 1, 2021 and February 10, 2023.
However, the MetaMask browser extension and mobile application were not impacted by this incident and wallet users were not affected if they did not provide personal information to the MetaMask customer support system.
It is estimated that approximately 7,000 people were affected by this incident and limited data, such as an email address, was requested from customers.
At this time, there is no threat and ConsenSys has provided the necessary information to the regulators and has hired specialists to investigate the incident.
