UNICEF is Testing a DAO Concept
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced at Paris Blockchain Week that they are testing out the DAO concept.
According to Arun Maharajan, the head of the UNICEF Web3 department, the project is currently being built on the Polygon blockchain and is intended to be a platform to facilitate discussion of digital public good (DPG) issues.
UNICEF has already tested out the on-chain voting platform Snapshot, and the fund’s ultimate goal is for projects like this to use the DAO to fund activities.
The fund has invested in 41 crypto startups, such as the Nepalese project Rumsan, which is a charitable blockchain platform. In October 2019, UNICEF launched a fund to accept donations in Bitcoin and Ether.
