Hackers Steal $950,000 Due to Profanity Bug
According to analysts from PeckShield, there has been a theft of 732 ETH or $950,000 from an Ethereum address created using the Profanity generator.
A hacker stole the funds on September 25 and sent them to the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, which had previously fallen under US sanctions.
The Profanity vulnerability was discovered on GitHub back in January, but it became widely known thanks to the 1inch Network team.
The tool allowed to generate human-readable Ethereum addresses containing words, names or phrases. 1inch Network experts have warned the keys to such addresses can be picked up by brute force.
