Crowdfunding Platform Kickstarter is Moving to the Celo Blockchain
The Kickstarter platform has recently announced it will develop an open source crowdfunding protocol based on the Celo blockchain. The project will offer the main functions of the site in a decentralized environment.
Crowdfunding platform Kickstarter has announced it will create a decentralized open source version of its core functionality based on the Celo blockchain.
The team has registered a subsidiary, which, starting from the first quarter of 2022, will work on the development of a blockchain analogue of Kickstarter. The parent company will provide funding, form an initial board of directors and become one of the first clients.
The transfer of the project site to the protocol is expected to happen in 2022 without “noticeable changes” for users.
As part of the decentralized version, an independent laboratory will be created to create tools for the development of the project and ensure independence from the management of the new company.
Both the white paper and the roadmap for the project will be made available to the public in the coming weeks.
Kickstarter has chosen Celo because it minimizes the environmental impact and focuses on global availability.
