Dorsey: Bitcoin Could Be Integrated in Twitter in the Future
Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter and Square, has said that Bitcoin will play an important role in Twitter in the future.
According to him, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap will be a “big part” of the future of the company.
He has even said that the asset could be integrated into some of the products of the company.
During the conference call of the Q2 2021 earnings, Dorsey said that Bitcoin is the “best candidate” to become the “native currency” of the Internet allowing “people and companies to freely trade goods and services anywhere on the planet.”
He added:
“If the Internet has a native currency, a global currency, we are able to move so much faster with products such as Super Follows, Commerce, Subscriptions, Tip Jar, and we can reach every single person on the planet because of that instead of going down a market-by-market-by-market approach.”
According to him, Twitter is not the only company showing interest towards cryptos. Dorsey mentioned Facebook and its crypto project Diem as an example.
We should remember that Square, the payments company owned by Dorsey, allows users to buy and sell Bitcoin through its Cash App. This business has generated $3.51 billion in Bitcoin-related revenue in Q1.
