Salvadorans Will Get $30 for Downloading Official BTC Wallet
The citizens of El Salvador will receive a $30 Bitcoin airdrop if they download the official wallet developed by the authorities of the country to transact with the cryptocurrency.
El Salvador, which just a few days ago made Bitcoin legal tender after passing a bill on its parliament, is trying to convince its citizens to use the cryptocurrency. In its efforts, the government has announced it is giving away $30 in the cryptocurrency as an airdrop to all users who download “Chivo”, the official wallet developed by the government.
Adult citizens will not have to do anything special to receive the airdrop, just to download the wallet on their devices (it is available for Android and iOS smartphones), register using the national ID number and wait for it to be credited in their accounts. It is worth mentioning they will only be able to do so one. This is exactly the same information the government has shared on its Twitter account:
Earlier today we have reported that another Latin American country, Paraguay, is also studying the possibility to legalize Bitcoin as legal tender. It might be the first of many countries to follow the example of El Salvador.
