Associated Press Auctions 10 NFTs
Prestigious New York-based media Associated Press has just announced it is auctioning 10 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to celebrate 175 years of photojournalism, CoinDesk has reported.
The NFTs include some of the most recognized photos in history.
Notably, the auction of the “AP ARTiFACTS: The 175 Collection” series has already started on the NFTs marketplace OpenSea. AP is auctioning a depiction of the famous 1945 image featuring six US soldiers raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima, Japan.
The NFT, which has been created by digital artist Marko Stanojevic, includes the 76-year-old image as well as a musical score by violinist Nick Kennerly and rarely seen images of Rosenthal, as well as film and audio of Iwo Jima from the agency’s archives.
AP has also reported it is working with blockchain company Everipedia as well as digital artists with the goal of publishing “one-of-a-kind” artwork on the Ethereum blockchain.
Proceeds from the auction will go to support the agency’s journalism.
